After Lake Sihl, the steep rock faces already rise into high mountains, with the Glärnisch peak being the highest point. You'll be impressed by the steep rock formations rising from Lake Klöntal and get a perfect view over the Glarus Alps and the stunning Glarnerland region. We'll continue over Alpnach to Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee) and past Küssnacht am Rigi, then head back to Buttwil. You take off from Buttwil airfield, which offers attractions for the whole family. The route can be adjusted slightly depending on the weather.
Parking is available on site and the nearest bus stop is in the village of Buttwil.

After the weather was very uncertain a few days before the flight date, we were able to enjoy a wonderful sightseeing flight on April 26. After several friendly contacts with Carlo from Buttwil airfield, we set off after midday to the take-off site above Muri. As we arrived a little before our planned take-off time, we were able to have a coffee in the restaurant and do the 'anxiety thing'. But there was absolutely no reason to be nervous. The sun came out and we got to know our pilot René. In his calm manner, he led us to the plane, helped us board and instructed us on the most important things, such as the headset, etc. We took off over Freiamt in the direction of Lake Zug. We continued via Arth past the still overcast Rigi to Lake Uri and then up to the Klausen Pass. The view of the mountains was fantastic, even though there were still a lot of clouds. Suddenly the clouds broke and opened the way to the Glarnerland. It was very impressive not to see the mighty snow-covered mountains from below, but to marvel at Vrenelisgärtli and other well-known peaks up close. We then had to turn around over the Klöntalersee, as the direct route back over the mountains was blocked by clouds. Our prudent pilot then guided us over the Glarnerland to the upper part of Lake Zurich, Lachen, Pfäffikon in the direction of Hirzel and Zug back to Buttwil. It was a special experience for us to see the various places from above, some of which we grew up in, and to realize how beautiful and varied the landscape is on this small section of the map of Switzerland.
