The balloon does not like the thermal winds caused by the sun. In the Alpine valleys, it is therefore only possible to fly in the early morning. In the lowlands, afternoon and evening flights are also possible.

Wo starten die Ballone?

There are launch sites available throughout Switzerland, e.g. near Zurich, Lucerne, Bern, Basel, the Central Plateau, Eastern Switzerland, Graubünden and the Bernese Oberland. You can choose your preferred region when booking.

Age: No strict limit, but children must be able to look over the edge of the basket independently (at least 1.20m). Pregnancy: For safety reasons, pregnant women are unfortunately not allowed on the tour. Fitness: You should be able to stand for approx. 1 hour. For guests who cannot stand for long periods, there is the VIP Deluxe ride with seats.

There are usually 4 to 8 people in the basket on panoramic trips. On some trips, such as the Basic trip, there can be a maximum of 16 people per basket. If you want to be among yourselves, you can book a private trip.

One last check and your pilot heats the air in the hot air balloon until the balloon basket detaches from the ground. Your balloon flight has begun! The experienced pilot skillfully uses the wind currents and manoeuvres the hot air balloon over fields and valleys. As the hot-air balloon travels with the wind, there is no wind at all in the basket (which is why it is called ballooning and not hot-air ballooning). After an unforgettable balloon flight over Switzerland at your favorite location, such as the Zurich region, Bern, eastern Switzerland or the inner Alps in the Bernese Oberland or Graubünden, your pilot will look for a suitable field for the landing and gently touch down the balloon.

Ballooning locations

The ballooning experience is available at locations throughout Switzerland. If you would like to give a hot-air balloon flight as a gift, we will be happy to send you a high-quality balloon flight voucher. If you would like to take a ride as a passenger yourself, you can register directly.

If you would like a very personal balloon ride, we recommend the balloon flight charter with a flight time of up to two hours and will also be happy to provide you with a non-binding offer for special flights. You can choose the take-off location yourself (if it allows a take-off) and enjoy a very private balloon flight with your loved ones. The experienced balloonists look forward to welcoming you on board!

Frequently asked questions about ballooning

How much does a hot air balloon ride in Switzerland cost?

Prices start at around CHF 280 per person for a one-way trip during the week. Weekend trips or special Alpine trips usually cost between CHF 340 and CHF 450. Click here for the current prices.

What about ballooning with a fear of heights?

The reference from the balloon basket and the view of the horizon will not cause vertigo. Avoid looking directly down from the edge of the basket, then you won't feel any fear of heights. Many passengers with a fear of heights enjoy the ride without any problems.

Is it cold during the balloon ride?

No, it is usually warmer in the balloon than on the ground! Firstly, you travel with the wind (no airstream) and secondly, the burner radiates heat. Just wear comfortable, season-appropriate casual clothing and flat, sturdy shoes (hiking boots are ideal).

When do balloon rides take place (morning/evening)?
