Experience the unique feeling of floating silently in a hot-air balloon for several hours above the natural beauty of Switzerland. An extraordinary view of Switzerland with its unique Alps, lakes and mountain landscapes awaits you on this flight. The ballooning experience begins as soon as the hot-air balloon is set up. The balloon envelope is inflated by wind machines and filled with warm air. If you like, you can help out and experience the power and impressive size of the balloon up close. Of course, helping to set up the balloon is voluntary.

One last check and your pilot heats the air in the hot air balloon until the balloon basket detaches from the ground. Your balloon flight has begun! The experienced pilot skillfully uses the wind currents and manoeuvres the hot air balloon over fields and valleys. As the hot-air balloon travels with the wind, there is no wind at all in the basket (which is why it is called ballooning and not hot-air ballooning). After an unforgettable balloon flight over Switzerland at your favorite location, such as the Zurich region, Bern, eastern Switzerland or the inner Alps in the Bernese Oberland or Graubünden, your pilot will look for a suitable field for the landing and gently touch down the balloon.

Ballooning locations

The ballooning experience is available at locations throughout Switzerland. If you would like to give a hot-air balloon flight as a gift, we will be happy to send you a high-quality balloon flight voucher. If you would like to take a ride as a passenger yourself, you can register directly.

If you would like a very personal balloon ride, we recommend the balloon flight charter with a flight time of up to two hours and will also be happy to provide you with a non-binding offer for special flights. You can choose the take-off location yourself (if it allows a take-off) and enjoy a very private balloon flight with your loved ones. The experienced balloonists look forward to welcoming you on board!

Frequently asked questions about ballooning

What prior knowledge is required for a balloon flight?

None at all. Anyone can come along.

What is the minimum age required?

There is no minimum age for the balloon ride. However, it is recommended that children are at least 1.20 meters tall and have reached school age. Smaller children usually get bored of the balloon ride after a short time. Up to the age of majority, we require the consent of a parent or guardian.

Why do the balloon flights usually take place in the morning or evening?

The balloon relies on light winds for take-off and landing. As the sun generates strong thermal winds during the day, depending on the region, only morning and evening flights can be carried out in spring and summer. In fall and winter, afternoon flights are also possible.

What about hot air ballooning with a fear of heights?

There is a big difference between standing on a tower, a precipice or in a hot air balloon basket. You feel very safe in the basket and the high edge means you don't feel afraid of heights.

What do I need to take with me?

No special clothing is required for the balloon flight. Wear appropriate clothing for the time of year, and gloves and a hat in winter. In summer, headgear is also recommended, but a light cap will suffice.

Am I allowed to take photos while driving?

Sure, you can take photos and film during the entire balloon flight.

Can pregnant women travel in a hot air balloon?

Unfortunately not. For safety reasons, pregnant women are not allowed to fly in a balloon.

Where does the balloon flight take place?

The balloon flights are carried out in the most beautiful areas of Switzerland. Depending on the balloon flight you choose, you will take off from a different region. When registering for a private flight you can also specify a desired starting location.

Does the balloon flight take place all year round?

The Panorama balloon flight, the Alpine flight and the Alpine crossing take place all year round. You can find out when the other flights take place in the detailed description of the respective balloon flight.

How many people can come along?

Most trips take 4-8 people. However, there are various hot-air balloons available with space for up to 16 passengers. For larger groups, several balloons are used at the same time. For a private flight you can also enjoy a ride just the two of you.

Can I book a private balloon flight for e.g. a marriage proposal, wedding, birthday or company party?

Yes, this is possible with one of the various private balloon rides. With a private balloon flight, the duration of the flight and the take-off location can be individually tailored to your wishes. You can find more information at private balloon flight or by mail.

How do I register?

Here you can register quickly and easily online. You should register about two weeks before your desired flight date so that we can reserve a place for you in the balloon basket. Contact us if you would like to come along at very short notice. We can usually still organize something. Your pilot will inform you of the weather decision the evening before or the morning of the day of the flight. If the weather does not cooperate, we will postpone your balloon flight to another date of your choice. For longer-term bookings, we recommend our vouchers.
