The Säntis is the highest and most imposing mountain in Eastern Switzerland and the hallmark of this beautiful region of Switzerland. The helicopter flight departs from either the St. Gallen Altenrhein or Sitterdorf airfields and takes you to Appenzell with Lake Constance behind you. The landscape’s distinctive hills quickly grow larger until the Alpstein looms ahead of you. You’ll enjoy the beautiful rock formations near Appenzell, where the terrain rises steadily toward the Säntis. From here, you’ll have a magnificent view of the Säntis summit—a sight reserved for only a few. On a clear day, you can even see into four different countries from this vantage point. After taking in these sights, the helicopter sightseeing flight will take you over Appenzell and the Rhine Valley back to St. Gallen Altenrhein or Sitterdorf, where you can once again enjoy the sweeping view of Lake Constance. The classic sightseeing flight over the Alpstein region to Säntis takes place daily upon request, weather permitting, with up to 3, 4, or 6 passengers departing from Altenrhein or Sitterdorf.

You can sign up directly yourself or purchase the flight as a gift certificate . For that truly special helicopter flight around Säntis, you also have the option of booking a private flight with a custom flight duration, without any other passengers on board.

Location helicopter flight Säntis


The Säntis helicopter tour departs from St. Gallen Altenrhein Airport or Sitterdorf Airport near Bischofszell. You will fly over Appenzell to Säntis and back again. The actual route may differ slightly from the line marked on the map.

Free parking is available directly in front of the meeting point, and the bus stop is about a 10-minute walk away.

Perfect communication during booking and preparation (schedules, directions, etc.)
Absolutely friendly staff at Valair.
A very competent and trustworthy pilot with a wealth of experience and a knack for sharing knowledge.
Dream weather—though neither Flightbase nor Valair, as the flight operator, could have done anything about it.
Very good starting location in Balzers.
The aperitif was OK, though one might expect a bit higher quality from the sparkling drink given the price.
